Sublue Vapor Review
Diving Deep:
An Independent Review of the Sublue Vapor Underwater Scooter
If you have ever looked into high-end water toys, you are probably familiar with the concept of a Diver Propulsion Vehicle (DPV) or underwater scooter. While entry-level models are great for casual pool splashing, the premium end of the market aims for something much faster, more durable, and packed with high-tech metrics.
Subblue calls their flagship model, the Sublue Vapor, a "luxury yacht toy." Sitting at a premium price point of $3,000, it is positioned as a more accessible competitor to high-end luxury sea-scooters like the Seabob.
But does this premium rig live up to its ambitious price tag? Let’s break down the real-world performance, telemetry features, and travel limitations of the Subblue Vapor.

Performance and Power: Breaking Down the Speed Tiers
The Vapor delivers an impressive 20.8 kilos of thrust, controlled via three distinct gears right on the throttle handlebars:
Gear 1 (6 km/h): Designed for low-speed cruising or conserving battery life when you want an extended session.
Gear 2 (8 km/h): The absolute "sweet spot" for casual snorkeling and comfortably taking in the underwater scenery.
Gear 3 (10 km/h): This is where things get wild, unlocking the full propulsion potential of the craft.
At 10 km/h, the Vapor is faster than any single-engine scooter we have ever tested. To put that power into perspective, we tested it head-to-head against a diver carrying three Subnado scooters simultaneously—one in hand and two mounted to the hips—and the single-engine Vapor still easily outpaced them.
Note: Your actual top speed underwater will vary slightly based on your body weight, drag, and how much heavy scuba gear or thick rubber you are wearing.
The Standout Feature: A True Smart Dashboard
Where the Vapor really differentiates itself from mid-tier options like the Subblue Navbow is its robust electronic suite. It features a large, crisp 4.3-inch LED screen that functions as a comprehensive dive computer right between your hands, tracking key data in real time:
Real-Time Telemetry: Keeps you constantly informed of your current speed gear, remaining battery percentage, water temperature, and precise depth.
Pitch Angle & Digital Compass: Crucial for visibility when diving deep, helping to ensure you don’t get disoriented or lose track of your trajectory.
Depth Safety Alert: You can program a custom depth threshold directly into the device. If you drop below your targeted safety limit, the handlebars will physically vibrate to warn you to ascend.
